Sedation Dentistry

Although dentistry has advanced tremendously by utilizing state-of-the-art materials and new dental technologies, many put off going to the dentist due to a fear of pain.  If you share that worry, you will love our sedation options!  These options help to keep your treatment completely pain-free and free of anxiety. We offer sedation dentistry at both of our dental office locations in Arlington and Mansfield, Texas.

Are you anxious about an upcoming dental procedure? Why not relieve yourself of unnecessary stress by using our sedation dentistry services.  Patients have used this safe option when undergoing several types of dental treatments including:

  • Fillings
  • Crowns
  • Root canals
  • Tooth extractions
  • Dental implant treatments
  • Assorted oral surgeries

Different Levels of Sedation

You can choose the level of sedation that you desire for your treatment.  If you suffer from mild dental anxiety you may opt for nitrous gas.  For moderate anxiety, you have the option of conscious sedation, which entails ingesting a medication.  Conversely, if your anxiety is extreme, you can choose to be IV sedated and awakened after the procedure is complete.  In all situations, your safety is our priority.  Patients that suffer from the following conditions may want to consider sedation dentistry:

  • Severe gag reflex
  • Needle or shot anxieties
  • Extremely sensitive teeth
  • Intense fear or previous traumatic dental memories
  • Multiple dental extractions

Our team will converse with you about your needs and give you specific instructions based on the type of sedation you choose.  Before any sedation appointment, we will instruct you to avoid eating or drinking a few hours before your procedure.  We will also require that you have someone drive you home after the procedure.  We recommend that you have a family member or companion accompany you during your dental appointment and that you wear comfortable attire.  For further questions regarding sedation, feel free to call our office and we can explain in more detail.
